Meal Planning Monday ~ Resolve to Save Money this Year!

On Saturday, my husband and I were watching the 40th anniversary of Dick Clark’s “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” and they were talking about the top five New Year’s resolutions for 2012.  Of course losing weight made the list, but, surprisingly, it wasn’t number one.  The number one resolution people are making in 2012 is “Save More Money.”  To say that I am excited about this is an understatement!

As a Coupon Queen and experienced Meal Planner, I know firsthand how much people can save using these strategies!  Because I am a Nerd, I track my coupon savings and have done so for the past four years.  I love seeing my savings rack up as each month progresses!  What was my grand total for 2011?  I saved $6,939, which is about $578 each month by using meal planning, rebates, and coupons for just about everything!  What would you do with an extra $578 every month?  Build up your savings?  Pay down your debt?  Save for a large purchase?  All of these are great ways to use your coupon savings to improve your family’s finances!

At, we have all the tools you need to get started on your resolution to save money with coupons and meal planning!  There’s a lot of great (FREE!) information in the Meal Planning Monday archives on the website.  If you’re new to couponing, get yourself a copy of my e-book, “Confessions of a Coupon Queen: Secrets Retailers Don’t Want You to Know.”  For one more week, you can get it for the low price of $5.99, and save an additional 10% using the coupon code LEAH.  (The price will go up to $7.95 next Monday.)  If you’re already applying the stockpiling and meal planning strategies, get yourself organized with the Coupon Wizard software.  The software includes a FREE copy of the Confessions of a Coupon Queen e-book and is only $49.99 – use the LEAH coupon code to save 10% on this too!

Leah and I are both very excited about the upcoming release of our new e-book all about Meal Planning, called “The Coupon Sisters Get Cooking!”  It contains all the basics of meal planning and is chock-full of tips and recipes designed to save you time, stress, and money!  Stay tuned for details about the release.  We are also working on a new one-hour class: “The Magic of Meal Planning.”  We realized that whether people use coupons or not, everyone can save money by using meal planning and freezer cooking strategies.

My resolution in 2012 is to help strengthen the finances of as many families as I can, by teaching them to save money with meal planning, couponing, and sound money management strategies.  May the year 2012 be known as “The Year of Savings!”

  1. I’m still working on my resolutions. I don’t like having to make them right after the crazy holidays. I sort of take the month of January to decide my goals for the year.
